OUR History

The history of the club dates to the formation of the Biggleswade and District Constitutional Club in 1905.

Constitutional club members set about renovating the clubhouse and installing the bowls green, before the tennis courts were added in 1920.

The Biggleswade Conservative Tennis Club was officially established in 1926, with the courts being used ever since. The exception was from 1939 to 1945 during the Second World War when there was no play, and Mr Whiteman, who lived in a cottage at the entrance to the car park tended to them.

A significant change in the club’s history came in 2003 when its surface changed from clay to carpet, enabling play all year round.
